Re: Spindle Arm Nut

I have a question in this vein, but a little different. I read this thread and looked at the picture that dirtrack49 posted in post #5 yesterday. Then I looked at the front axle of my car. In that...

Re: Towed car lost lots of fluids

Rivcokid,
My '30 town sedan doesn't leak much, but if I park it on my sloped driveway the rear main will leak a little. The first time this happened I nearly went into panic mode.

Re: rumble seat ins & outs

Most of the guys with coupes that I know wish they had a trunk instead of a rumble seat. Easier to store your folding chair in a trunk.
Marty

P.S. What would it cost to convert back to a trunk?

Re: steering stabilizer

Well, I took the stabilizer off and there is no death wobble, which is why I put it on in the first place. I can't really say that the car steers easier, but I'll give it a try.

Re: steering stabilizer

I've had a "shimmy shock" on my car for several years. Last winter we rebuilt the steering gear box and tightened everything up. I don't know why I didn't remove the stabilizer at that time, but...

Re: Model A as a mobile studio

Well, I watched the whole thing and I'm ashamed to admit that I wasted 12 minutes of my life that I'll never get back. Why anyone would make a video of someone eating in a very nice Model A, is...

Re: What's the most absurb advice you've received in the old car hobby?

You need to chop the top about three inches.

Re: Model A prices...going which way?

ETAModel,
I have owned the car in my avatar for 26 years. I bought it as a restored car from a new car dealership after the previous owner had a stroke and couldn't maintain the car any more. (He...

Re: Radius rod ball rubber cover mod

I replaced the rubber ball on mine last year. I was getting 'KLUNKS' and I looked at the ball. It was probably put on when the car was restored in the 60's. It was needed and the repair was easy. ...

Re: another project? our gas level gauge inop

Thom,
You just need to drain the tank so that the gas is lower than the gauge. Undo the fuel line at the carb with the shutoff valve closed and put a container under the line. Turn on the valve and...

Re: different points in my distributor

I have modern guts in my distributor and the only problem I've ever had has been the condenser. I found that Echlin condenser (part number FA-82) works the best. I found it at NAPA. You should be...

Re: heater

Thom,
Snyder's has one. It's on page 188 of their catalog. Says it goes on a stock manifold without cutting or welding. It even comes with the firewall valve to control the heat. Easily removed for...

Re: 1931 model A performance

Someone at a car show last night asked me how fast 0 to 60. I replied "Oh, maybe 4 to 5 - days!" "Seriously, I don't know, I've never driven my "A" at 60 MPH."

Re: Interesting Comments about you Ride

I get asked a lot "how much is it worth." My response is usually, "why do you ask? Are you going to make an offer?"

Re: Body Interior Variation

If I may jump in with my 2 cents worth, Brent, with over 8,000 posts, is the expert I would go to in a heart beat.
As to the name of a given automobile, Lincoln made a fine car in the 1930's called...

Re: Interior Door Panels on Deluxe Closed Cars

My '30 town sedan has it. It's kind of a jute material.

Re: No air filter . . .

Consider how dirty the roads were "back then" and how they are now. I don't use an air filter.

Re: Body Interior Variation

My car, as I believe, is a '30 town sedan but my title just says 4 door. It was restored about 50 years ago and I have no idea if it was originally built as a 4 door or a TS. Ever hear the expression...

Engine colors?

I'm touching up my engine on the '30 Town Sedan. What color are the water inlet and outlet supposed to be ? Are they green, engine color, or are they black?

Re: Fan Belt Squeak

Thanks for all the replies. I did spray with WD40 a week ago but I think that is a temporary fix. The squeak came back. Now I have a bunch of things to try.
I can't wait to get started.

Fan Belt Squeak

My fan belt is not too old but it is starting to squeak a bit. What can I use to dress it? I have some belt dressing in a spray can in the garage but it makes such a mess when I use it. I remember...

I was looking to paint my wheels "straw" a couple years ago. I took the Antique Ford Paint Manual to a big box store and found that Rustoleum's Gloss Warm Yellow was a very close match. I'm color...
