Re: 4 barrel carb for 55 - 272V8

ECZ-9425-A is actually a '56 4bbl intake manifold.

The bolt pattern on that manifold fits the Holley 4000 'Teapot' carburetors, preferably a '56 version because the '55 carb has an intake manifold...

Re: Mile-o-matic servo piston seal question

Are they seals with a more 3D shape, or O-rings?
If there's a shop near you that sells and makes hydraulic and pneumatic equipment hoses they should have selection of O-rings in lots of sizes.

Re: 57 engine

Look for the casting number on the block.
It should be just above the oil filter. Just so you know what year / version the block is.

The block...

Re: Stock 57 Fairlane 500

A stock '57 4bbl intake is an ECZ-9425-B
The inlet port size at the upper flange is made for the stock '57 carbs that were approx 400 cfm. Slightly smaller than most(?) later carburetors, their...

Re: 1959 generator and voltage regulator capacitors

Yes they're for radio noise suppression. Chances are good they may also help to reduce sparks and arcing on the commutator and relay contacts. But it's been too long since that electronics class......

Re: Wire Wheel Tires with Radisl tires

The Chevron gas station I worked at back in the early 70's had boxes with tubes for radial car tires on the shelf, next to the other tubes. Product types and availability have likely changed a few...

Re: What the bes oil to use in a 312 engine

Yes if the Rotella has the CJ-4 or SJ rating it should be fine in the '56 Bird, just like your other Fords or many other pre-emissions era vehicles.
An oil pressure gauge can be attached to any of...

Re: What the bes oil to use in a 312 engine

One of the first things that can get plugged up is the shallow oil passage at the head gasket up to the rocker arms. If you're getting oil to all the rocker arms I'll suggest Not doing any 'extra'...

Re: Crank shaft flange

I suspect a valley pan with a hole at the back may have been used on early 60's (cars?) trucks with a PCV elbow, hose & valve in the back. But they had a taller oil fill tube, approx 8 inch.
