Pressure check the cooling system with the cover off, and VERY low pressure, maybe 4 pounds and see if it's leaking, which it looks like it is.

This is an intake for a Gemsa overhead valve head that has never been used or drilled. Almost as cast, just a little basic machining and could be useable, or leave it undrilled for that collector...

A small crack wouldn't change your compression much. Is there oil in the antifreeze? Could be the antifreeze leaking under the pressure to the crankcase if not. More than likely head gasket. At least...
