Re: Snyders or Randy Gross for rear brake rebuild.

I sent Randy "everything from the backing plates out". He sent me back what looked to me like "everything brand new". (including new cast drums). He did say that he had to replace one of my backing...

Re: Zero Grease Fitting Replacement

As others have said, like removing a tooth - vice grips and rock it back and forth while pulling.

Re: T-5 5 speed trans VS Mitchell overdrive

I have not had or even driven the T5 or a Mitchell. I do have the F150 Tremec transmission. Mine was a complete bolt in kit with no modifications to the vehicle. Fairly easy install. Essentially...

Re: Parasitic draw at turn signal on column

All the more reason to suspect that you have power going to the P (pilot.)

Re: Radial Tires

I have the Excelsior 550R19 tires on my pickup. They fit the spare wheel well much better than the 475-19 Firestone I had previously.

Re: Aristocrat dash swap

I would like to find a 31 Aristocrat (round speedometer). They seem to be as scarce as hen's teeth.

Re: Fan Belt Squeak

I have used all of the above, except the sanding. Nothing seemed to work except putting a new belt on. I'll have to try the sanding next time. Oh, I did (do) have the cogged belt.

Re: Anyone use a TomTom gps?

I hardwired a USB port in my pickup and plug my Garmin Nuvi into that. I have that port switched so it comes on automatically when I turn on my ignition.

Re: Hubs for new cast drums

I sent everything from the backing plates out to Randy Gross. What I got back looked like Brand New stuff.

If you are worried about time, Dont! My new stuff was back to me in about a week or 10...

Re: Smaller wheels for transport?

Back in "the day", I let the air out of the rear tires on my AA 280A in order to get it in my Dad's garage. He was rather pissed since we only had a hand pump to re-inflate them.

Re: What’s this Box???

Looks like there is a fuse missing right at the top of the box.

Definitely an aftermarket add-on.

Re: LED Headlights

I had the same situation. I used ones from JDM Astar. They work great.

Re: Rear End Dolly

Davey,
The A/C Condenser is only mounted with 4 bolts (at least mine is). Should be easy enough to just to swing it out of the way without disconnecting the hoses.

Re: Can I get single head studs anywhere?

The younguns at ARP are not always helpful when it comes to Model As. You have to talk them through it. They do have what you want, they just don’t know it.

Re: ford overdrive

Using Dave’s kit there’s no cutting or drilling except the wood floor board. It’s a complete bolt on kit.

Re: Fog Light Switch Connection Question

I have a set of fog lights, but have never installed them on my pickup. When (& if) I can find suitable LED replacement bulbs, I will probably install them. Right now they are amber 12v sealed beams....

Re: ford overdrive

The 2-3 shift is essentially the same as a Model A transmission, isn't it?

Re: Kudos to snyders

I always ask for USPS shipping. Both FedEx and UPS have very large terminals only a couple of miles from my house, BUT their rates (to Alaska) are outrageous.

Re: Radio in my PicUp

My wife has bluetooth hearing aids and listens thru her iPhone or iPad. I prefer no radio anyway since there is so much other noises while driving a Model A.
