Thank you Kube! your guess was right on! I had no idea that there was a left and right and funny thing is that the previous owner didn't either as the choke knob could not be pushed all the way in....

i purchased choke and throttle replacement rods for my 1940 ford sedan deluxe. Prior to installing, i noted the rubber joint on the new choke rod was not at the same distance from the carburetor....
