Re: Help removing a stripped head bolt

Yes, use a Dremel with a cutting wheel and cut slices from front and back, not the sides. The nut will look like a D after you cut the first side off just close to the threads. Then cut the other...

Re: Tire tubes and age.

Apparently you guys haven't purchased any of the junk inner tubes that are being sold. They blow up putting air in them before you even put them back on the car. A friend had aired one up, had it...

Re: Broken Manifold Bolt

Make a drill fixture with a flat plate about 3/4 or 1 inch thick. Use a gasket as a pattern to put in two other holes to hold it in place. This will keep your hand drill square so you don't drill at...

Re: ZDDP additive reacts with yellow metals?

You don't need ZDDP so it wouldn't matter.

Re: Scranton PA area VIN verification

Any inspection mechanic can verify it, and state police. But all I've ever had to do was take a tracing to go to PennDOT.

Re: Charging a dead battery

Didn't he say he charged it on 12 instead of 6 volts for several hours? I'd bet the battery is trashed and lucky it didn't blow it's guts. Check the points too, if you left the key on until it killed...

Re: Coil + or -

If you hook it up backwards the spark will be jumping from the bent electrode on the threaded part of the spark plug to the center electrode. Think about that.

Re: Coil + or -

If it's Bosch it was probably stolen from a VW. And like Railcarmover says 15 goes to the points. With a generator electricity moves from + to - to get to ground which the points are just that.

Re: think i got f@#$ed

What you should know better about is telling Ryan instead of airing it here. Ryan will fix it, just like on the HAMB.

Re: Temp Probe Pipe Leak

What is inside at the weld joint is called sugar. It is caused because they didn't back flow argon into the pipe before welding. They saved a few pennies in time to risk a leak.

Yes, and I am sure that would have come up in the job interview. She could have refused the job right then.

Re: Possible Radiator Problem???

Why wouldn't you have it rodded out? If it was already junk they couldn't ruin it, only fix it.

Re: What is going on with tires these days??

I have used Vredesteins on VWs for years , liked them and never had any trouble. They are still available from major tire dealers like Tire Rack so I am sure Coker is not having them made. BUT in the...
