Re: why did my helmet distributor housing just crack? new rotor .

If it might help anyone at all, I demo how a distributor ought to fit to the motor in one of my videos.

Re: Cyl Heads-Navarro vs Edelbrock or Offenhauser

Thanks for giving an insight to what is considered cutting edge for these old motors. I'm just pleased to get one running at all! I feel humbled by the knowledge shared here.

Re: stuck rear hub help

I can't prove it, but I think the one time I was struggling, I had the VP puller wound very tight, but because of the angle I had to reposition it to get it tighter. I slacked it off and when I...

Re: I decided to make a little anvil.

I made a couple of plattens for the press from the two offcuts. (The pieces knocked off with the sledgehammer.)
They were gangmilled so all the faces are true and the same height.
Can't load the...

Re: King Pin Cross Pins

Never had one that wouldn't come out. The original nut, backed off just a bit and a good well aimed and angled blow and that's normally enough for me.

Re: stuck rear hub help

I've never seen one of those snapon bluepoint pullers before. It does look like an excellent piece of kit. It would appear to be specifically designed for the Fords, so it would be perfectly...

I decided to make a little anvil.

I saw a post on the hamb, in the very interesting "Home made tools" thread, showing a small anvil made from a piece of railroad track. This is quite a popular thing to do and mostly involves large...

Re: French Ford pistons...Looking for a value please

Forgive me, sorry to say it, but I can't see that they are worth anything. Who would want to buy them?

Unless he has a set - but even then where is the market for them? I don't think French...

Re: Front Axle to Radius Rod Bolts

I made a puller based on Andy's post on the hamb. It has worked well for me. Heat does make it easier, though. I've had a couple that were already loose, the pin and axle were both worn.

Re: Thought I would share a video I did yesterday

I'm really impressed by the image quality and the audio quality particularly the lack of wind buffeting noise. When I mounted my sony camera like that on my T Bird the wind noise made the whole thing...

Re: 11 inch clutch flywheel question

^^ I wonder if that is referring to the passenger type flywheel with the heavy raised ring around the outside??

Re: Bleeding brakes on 42

Yes, but as this is a truck part I can't advise on what thread it is.

Re: Ford truck identification

I just revisited this and felt I need to comment on the whole thing. That trailer was probably made by a farmer and only ever intended for relatively slow local journeys.

If you really intend to...

Re: STP/gear lub

I think the thread has maybe drifted as some seem to be talking about steering boxes. I don't think I've ever heard of corn head grease being recommended for a manual transmission.

Parts of the...

Humour me. More video offerings from Mart.

Hopefully could be argued as on topic depending on what you do.

Three new videos from Mart.

For those who do fabrication and metalwork, you may have a generic 4x6 bandsaw. I spent a bit of time...

Re: 59A Block ID centre water passages.

I saw the third oil drilling so thought it may be worth asking the question. 3 ports might indicate a military heritage.

Re: Bleeding brakes on 42

You might do better to replace the bleed fittings with one that has a nub to take a bleeder pipe. If the bleed fittings are the early type, it could be that the cylinders are long overdue an overhaul...

Re: 59A Block ID centre water passages.

Check for grub screw in the horizontal oil passage, or any other restrictive mods to the oil flow. It may have been intended for use with a remote full flow filter.

Re: Ford truck identification

I don't think the type of gear oil would be hyper critical as this is just a trailer. The rear end gears are not driving, as such, just idling over with minimal load.
