Hi Mikeinnj,
Yes, it's certainly a car and follows a European tradion of boat tailed cars.
It will be painted and the woodwork will not be visible

Yes it is the same as cedar strip planking and in fact cedar was the second choice for materials except that its expensive here.

For the last three years I have been building a speedster which was only going to take two years.
Unfortunately, I'm lucky to get a half day each weekend to work on it and progress has been slow....
