Bullitt Mustang update

Well, I got to see the Bullitt at the Amelia Island Concours. Being a volunteer, I figured I had all day to find a way to drive it.

From before the show began, before sun up I plied my plan at...

Re: Right era, wrong type of transportation

Karl, I have the greatest respect for the bomber crews of WW2 ... and have to admit that would have been my last choice of assignments.

The subject of scoring air victories is one that remains a...

Amelia Island Concours Changed to Saturday

For those planning to attend, forecast of rain has moved the show to one day earlier. Had to do this last year ... went smoothly ... did not affect the content and quality of the event.

Re: Looking for info on this '39 Merc I just found...

"... front and rear bumpers should be painted Red."

Isn't that "restoration" rather than preservation? It's a slippery slope!:p

(Beautiful car ... the tops.)

Re: Shipping Costs

I would not link eBay with high shipping costs. In fact, eBay enables sellers to ship at discounted rates which are passed on to the buyer as long as the seller is accurate on the shipping weight.

Re: Shipping Costs

Even in the States you have to be wary. The Bob Drake catalog weighs 3 1/4 lbs. On my last order they quoted the shipping THEN asked if I wanted their free catalog.

Almost doubled my shipping. ...

Re: rleated to NOS vs NORS thread: "restored"

"Frame Off" was originally "Off-Frame" and makes more sense.

(By the way, I'm of the same mindset as Petehoovie. Preservation tops restoration.)

Re: Spark timing question

(Bubba and I are generally on the same page ... or at least maybe only a paragraph or two off.)

Early on, dealers simply exchanged distributors rather than do much with them. As service fees...

Re: Spark timing question

I have a confession to make.

That's not my "dumb idea." That's the design that Ford created, patented, invested millions in and built into millions of cars.

What is (close :))? Seems like it...

Re: Spark timing question

Still wondering ...

If someone, like Bubba, sets the timing on a helmet or crab at 4BTDC and it's installed on an engine, will it fire at 4BTDC?

... with the engine running?

How about if the...

Re: Spark timing question

I wonder ...

When Ford started building the new V8 back in the early 1930's, how was the timing set on the engines?

How did the folks who built the distributors set them up? There were no Sun...

Re: Timing Mark Indicator

Charlie,

As embarrassing as it may be, your math is wrong. .755 is not the answer. And 22 1/2 degrees is not really relevant.

Additionally, if you read "Bored & Stroked's" post #4, he...
