Have you tried pre-heating the broken stud with a torch to get better penetration with the mig welder? I haven't tried it yet, but have been thinking about it since I've had similiar negative results...

Rusty, I do have a couple of spare bolts I found in my bolt box, I'll check to see about nuts.
Here are a couple of photos of the bolts from one of my pickups. The lockwasher is not original.

Rusty, the bolts in that chart don't look at all correct. There is no cotter pin hole. There is just the bolt, the lock washer and the nut.
The parts price list has the numbers but no drawing of...

How about the magnetic reed switch mounted to a bracket on the lower frame rail and let it get a signal from a magnet on the pitman arm. A 'momentary' SPDT switch...
