I was told you should use self etching primer on aluminum. Is that not necessary?

Spotlight bracket (Right side)

I am looking for a right hand spotlight bracket for my 50 Ford coupe. This is used to mount the Thompson (not Unity) spotlight. The bracket I'm looking for would mirror the bracket in the picture....
