Re: Zenith 1 Carburetor leak trouble

Hi Fred. I’m looking at one on the MAFCA classified site for $222. I may go for it. I used some permatex 2 on the plug this morning. We ‘ll see what happens.

Re: Zenith 1 Carburetor leak trouble

Thanks Bob. A friend suggested that also, but I couldn’t bring myself to believe such a thing could happen. But the same idea from two people whose experience I highly respect - you and my friend-...

Re: Zenith 1 Carburetor leak trouble

Re: Zenith 1 Carburetor leak trouble

Reporting back: Main jet gasket was very old and hard. Only one gasket there, no extras found. Replaced with new one. While I was in it I replaced all the gaskets with new. Cap and main jets are also...

Re: Zenith 1 Carburetor leak trouble

Thank you Jim and Gary. I’ve been reluctant to put any sealant on the plug because of its proximity to the Main jet. But I’ll approach it with caution and see what happens. I’ll report back the...

Zenith 1 Carburetor leak trouble

The drain plug on my Zenith will not stop leaking. I've tried everything I can think of and can't stop that leak, even with two gaskets on the plug. I'm reluctant to tighten the plug too much because...

Re: Paint Question

Get a spray squeeze trigger to use on the can over the spray button. Your paint store should carry them. They make rattle cans much easier to use over longer times.

Re: Homemade Radiator Mascots

There were 4 where I found this one, and the other three all had broken wings. This good one is complete, but rust or corroded so badly on the hinge and underside that nothing moves. I don’t know...

Re: Homemade Radiator Mascots

This is off what I think was a29 Chevvy. It’s very fragile old potmetal. I’d like to remove the old radiator cap part, but I haven’t figured out a way to safely do that. I’ll take suggestions if...

Re: How many miles should spark plugs last?

I worked in a service station in high school in 1961, and one of the services we offered was cleaning plugs. We had a special machine and some kind of electrical device that told us whether the plug...

Re: new guy, old car
