Re: Mallory ignition 12 volt coil.

Re: Mallory ignition 12 volt coil.
I have tried all the major parts stores and no one carries Bosch blue 00012 coils or can get one. Napa, Auto zone, O'Reilly etc. If you know of one let me know. I'm not interested in E-Bay, etc.

Re: Steelpack placement
Steel packs are louder than glass packs. Glass packs get louder with use. Brockman are a good choice which ever you use. I run Fenton headers on my 50 so after you install the header pipes install...

Re: muffler
It all depends on the length. I like Brockman Mellow tones.

Re: At a loss. 1949 Ford flathead V8
Check the wire under the distributor plate the points and condenser are mounted on. It might be shorting out somewhere when the advance moves the plate.

Re: Clutch?
I have a 286 CI flathead in my 50 Custom. Trans is a five speed T-5 out of a 92 or 93 Mustang. I'm using an 11 inch clutch and flywheel. Some say that your left leg is going to get tired with that 11...

Re: 49 Ford Flathead v 8 8BA
I don't live in your area but if you could tell us more information about your stuck valves I'm sure you can get some good advice here. Are the valves stuck in the guide or are the guides stuck in...

Cooling system.
I cant find my book. What is the capacity of the cooling system of a 1950 Ford?
Is there a difference between the 6 cylinder and V-8? Thanks in advance.

Re: 8BA engine
Pull the driverside side head. Thats where 5 6 & 7 are located. Agree it sounds like stuck valves.

Re: Flush, Corrosion Inhibitor, wetting
Propolene Glycol (Sierra) brand is what I use with 50/50 mix and distilled water. Why that brand? It's non toxic to pets. I also add water wetter. Good for about 25 below zero. Gets cold here in...
