Re: Mallory ignition 12 volt coil.

Update: It appears my problem is the coil is overheating. I changed over to a Mallory coil I previously had trouble with and it started right up. I left it running for about a half hour and it died....

Re: Mallory ignition 12 volt coil.

I have tried all the major parts stores and no one carries Bosch blue 00012 coils or can get one. Napa, Auto zone, O'Reilly etc. If you know of one let me know. I'm not interested in E-Bay, etc.

Re: early Ford V8 flathead motor catalytic converter?

"If it ain't broke don't fix it". Why would you want to give the government another reason to meddle into our lives and our love of old cars.

Re: At a loss. 1949 Ford flathead V8

Check the wire under the distributor plate the points and condenser are mounted on. It might be shorting out somewhere when the advance moves the plate.

Re: Clutch?

I have a 286 CI flathead in my 50 Custom. Trans is a five speed T-5 out of a 92 or 93 Mustang. I'm using an 11 inch clutch and flywheel. Some say that your left leg is going to get tired with that 11...

Pull the driverside side head. Thats where 5 6 & 7 are located. Agree it sounds like stuck valves.
