External, right where pump rod exits in order to connect with link to throttle arm. Most are never replaced following a rebuild. There is, or was a washer that is peened, holding felt in place.

As an aside, Abro makes a GL1 140 gear oil as well. $24/gallon on Amazon. For Super S fans (one maker of grade 00 semi fluid grease) I see they offer a GL1 90 gear oil.

Nothing else, Timken wheel bearing grease in a tub works. Timken might know a thing or two about bearings.
