Re: 1950 Ford 47 (F1) will a 8BA from 53 bolt in.
The F350 probably has the truck 4 speed transmission. You don't say what the '47 is, but if it's a pickup, you will probably be quite unhappy with that transmission.
If you have a big truck, you...

Re: why was ken ct banned?
I have found that questions like this don't get an answer (which is probably the best way to handle it).

Re: Mallory ignition 12 volt coil.
With all due respect, "Check with Mallory" is probably not possible these days.
You want about 4 amps across the points. Apply "Ohm's Law" and figure out what is required.

Re: 1941 1/2 ton pickup
Aluminum radiators can be OK. Just make sure they have welded (not epoxied) joints and buy some black radiator paint.

Re: 4 Barrel Carb?
On a closer look, it appears to be two different setups on the same engine. I'd go with the one in Post #33.

Re: 276 stroker from 35 years of parts
If I have everything straight after all 25 pages, you have a late block and late heads. I believe "cadillac512" has it right about the freeze plugs and you would be better off removing them, as they...

Re: 4 Barrel Carb?
Quite frankly, I don't understand how the PCV system pictured in Post #31 can work. With a stock 8BA, the air enters the engine through the faltered cap on the oil fill tube. It then circulates...

Re: grill
Don't get me wrong, I kind of like the look, especially on a car that's been "nosed and decked". It's "clean" looking. I'm just sayin' that if you do find one (they are out there), and you like the...

Re: 276 stroker from 35 years of parts
I make sure my heads are flat and surfaced properly and only use grease when I install them. I've never had a problem, and you can re-use the gaskets if necessary.
I'm a cheapskate, and a set of...

Re: grill
They used to be a common item (JC Whitney, etc.) If you look, hard enough, you might be able to find one. If you do find one, install it and enjoy it for about 6 months, when it will start to rust.

Re: ‘53 ran hot, then missing badly. Head gasket?
We had a long thread on here several years ago about the proper spark plugs to use with older Offenhauser heads. I believe the consensus was that nothing available was correct; 1/2" reach plugs were...

Re: 59A Flathead Running Rich, Need Help
I would suggest a plug change ASAP. Not only will the plugs be shrouded, but the shorter threads have a good chance of failing, as aluminum is not as strong as cast iron. There is a reason they went...

Re: 59A Flathead Running Rich, Need Help
What plugs are you currently running? I don't know about the 59A Edmunds heads, but the 8BA versions take a 3/4" reach plug (Champion "L" series or equivalent). The stock plugs are much shorter reach...

Re: Lowering shackles source
I'll play "Devil's Advocate" here for a bit. I have never had a spring "de-arched" myself, but wouldn't "de-arching" it to any significant extant make it longer between the eyes and cause...

Re: 1932 Ford Mid Point version door handles and
I have had mixed success with "pot metal welding rods ("Muggy Weld", etc.). I had great success repairing a headlight bezel on my '68 Corvette, but less on other stuff. I think it depends upon how...

Re: 80 years ago today
Unfortunately, a lot of these historic events are getting further and further into the past and thus becoming less relevant to the current generations.

Re: Hot Start 1950 Merc
This discussion is kinda off the point as the post-48 Ford products no longer used that type of resistor.

Re: Hot Start 1950 Merc
I saw a "Yellow Top" ad the other day. It offers a battery that looks just like a "Red Top" except that it's yellow for $138! Does anyone have any information on these? Sounds too good to be true!

Re: 1950 Mercury add factory OD
I don't know if I agree with this. You still end up with a 1:1 final drive, which is counter to the purpose of adding an overdrive.

Re: 1950 Mercury add factory OD
And the relay on the firewall and the lockout cable and the kickdown switch and the wiring harness. Thankfully, all are (or used to be) available but it can get expensive.
