Late 1931 Gas Tank (for indented firewall)
Late 1931 Model A gas tank for indented firewall. Looks good, some surface rust inside. Can send photos on request. Pick up in central Vermont or will ship at buyer's expense (likely expensive).

Re: Wildly different manifold flange thicknesses?
In the 1970's Model A manifolds were being cast in South America, Argentina I think. The quality of these was fair at best. That might be what you have. Don't mess around with it, get an original or...

Re: Average speed
It's not so much an issue of how fast can you go, but more of how fast can you stop! On two lane rural highways 45 mph is about right for me.

Re: Generator Overcharging
Thank you for the responses. I'll give the electrical connections a check and will charge the battery, as this was the first outing after sitting all winter, before making any adjustments to the...

Generator Overcharging
When running my 1931 Model A the ammeter pegs on the charge (+) side, so it appears to be overcharging. How do I adjust the generator to turn down the charging rate? It's running a modern...

Re: Sold Last Model A
Look at this way, we are just temporary caretakers for our Model A's. Your car now has a new caretaker, who someday will pass it on to the next caretaker.

Re: Brake Light Switch
If you switch to the 30-31 style switch buy the more expensive "quality" switch. The cheap ones are junk.

Re: Valve clearances
I had several noisy valve lifters on a Model A engine which didn't have adjustable lifters and agree that it is a lot of time and effort to grind valve stems to get the proper clearance. I even went...

Re: Vermont Model A Mechanics
By any chance did you step on the brake after the engine started. There are some really bad reproduction brake switches out there that are known to have "shorts" right out of the box (ask me how I...

Re: Vermont Model A Mechanics
I'm in Montpelier, VT, but far from an expert when it comes to electrical issues. It seems odd it would start and run briefly before blowing the fuse. Are you sure the generator cut out is wired...

Re: New Carb
I've tried a number of different carbs, including rebuilt Zeniths, and found the Marvel-Schebler, aka Allstate, Marvel and other names, worked best for me.

Re: Tom Wesenberg
Perhaps there is something positive that can come out of this; which is a lesson to all of us of the value and need for insurance on our automobiles, dwellings and possessions.

Re: Ammeter - Needle
The newer reproduction ammeters are basically junk. If you tip it forward the needle falls off and you have to pull the cover off to put it back on. It's too bad they bother to make this junk. Even...

Re: Kick panel with document storage
I bought an upholstery kit for my 1931 Deluxe Roadster from Cartouche (Mac's) and it had the storage pockets.
