Hello, I have a roadster with the repro panel, had to rework the molding areas due to incorrect fit and die distortion . Probably better that what you are describing on your car .Still working on mine

Dead battery likely suspect. You jump a very short time from a 12 volt car if it starts quickly. A small battery charger is also useful, just make sure it can charge 6 volt.
