Clutch Inspection Cover
My car has the older clutch inspection cover - Ford called it a "hand hole cover"- without the vent louvers that were added mid-production. Is this a non-problem or should I find a vented cover?

Re: weird stuff
The older pistons were often made with a split skirt, sometimes with a hole at one end of the split in order prevent cracking. I think this started when pistons were round and needed the split for...

Re: Marvel Carb Modification Gone Bad
I have found similar "improvements" to Zenith carbs that seem to defy logic. I wonder how well the JB Weld holds up to continuous exposure to gasoline?

Re: Grease fitting on exhaust pipe
My first Model A had a better system for coating the exhaust system: direct injection of SAE 40 weight mixed with STP via the combustion chambers. I think it was called "blow-by" or something like...

Re: Positive ground tach
So a tach or tach-dwell meter attaches and works regardless of whether the ignition is positive or negative ground?

Re: Wheel Bearing Part #’s
Ford used the same bearings from 1928 - 1948. The round back 37-41 spindles and the later 42-48 square back spindles used a grease seal on the inner aspect.

Re: Cooling Air Flow Experiment
Use of an infrared heat gun test device over the face of a radiator will show fairly uniform temps at various sections on a very good one. Most radiators will show a mix of hotter and cooler spots.

Re: Racked Radiator Shell
I would mount the radiator to the front crossmember then mount the shell to the radiator. You may be surprised that what looks "racked" off the pickup will turn out to be OK when mounted in place.

Re: pinion gear double cup bearing issue
How can a new bearing race be secured in a banjo when the interference fit of the casting has been spun out as shown in the photo? A new double cup race shouldn't be floating around in the banjo.

Re: Drilled crank?
The B crank already has pressurized oil to the main bearings. The drilling is to allow pressurized oil to the rod bearings which, on the original crankshaft, were oiled by dippers.

Re: Best Electric Fuel Pump?
Since most electric fuel pumps are designed for 12 volt systems, what happens when one is installed in a 6-volt system. If it runs at 3 PSI on 12 volts, does it run at 1.5 PSI on 6 volts?
