USMC65. Send me an email at jaog312. At g mail dot com. I keep that around just for things like this, so might take me a day to answer.

Re: 56 TBird
USMC65, it might help if you added your general location. Just might be someone close with a part or that could otherwise help. I’ve got an original 55 bird engine, been in storage close to 20...

Re: 56 TBird
It’s not as simple as just a rear sump. The truck pan isn’t as shallow in front as the bird is. I used a truck pan on my F code clone, and my bird has the oem pan. Doesn’t mean you can’t modify it...

Re: 1956 Vikky fuel sender
Since those are King Seeley gauges they don’t operate on straight resistance. I don’t know I’ve ever seen an ohm reading for one that helped diagnose a problem. Except maybe an open or direct short....

Re: Whatisit?
Even blown up I can’t seem to read the numbers on a tablet. But a 4 bolt main is usually pretty obvious looking at the block

Re: steering box
A change between the 2 sector and 3 sector steering box. Mid 56, and Ford being Ford, happened when they ran out of old parts and went to new ones. Same with the Thunderbirds with the adjustable...

Re: steering box
You might try Lares Corp. they do that sort of thing.

Farther away is Red Head. They’re local to me and well thought of.

Re: brake light issue with my 55 Fairlane.
If it’s the hydraulic switch you’re talking about, wait till someone gives you the Harley Davidson part number. Apparently more reliable than the chi-com replacements sold thru the Ford sources.

Re: carb question
A couple wadded up balls of aluminum foil on the air cleaner, bit of painters tape, and close the hood gently. Fastest, easier way I ever found to measure hood clearance.

Re: carb question
Mike, I’m not sure I understand just what’s off, but these spacers are cheaper and come in a variety of heights. It’s what I used on my bird so the original a/c would clear the Edelbrock carb.

Re: How about a 4 banger T-Bird
I’m making close to 300 or so in my bird, and the block is about the only thing left on the engine that’s cast iron instead of aluminum or tubing. Horsepower and weight reduction will not make one...

Re: HEI distributor
Then I guess you’ve better give us the specs on the distributor you’re using. I’ve never seen an FE replacement distributor that was fixed in place. Stuck, yes. It’s not unknown for replacements...

Re: 52-54 ford or mercury convertible top frame
If you don’t find one here, you might try over at yblocksforever. There’s a couple guys that seem to be parting out. Don’t know about your case.
The other place would be the 42-59 Ford social...

Re: 1954 Ford body to frame mount pads
Those look really nice, great idea. They look a lot like I remember the ones on my bird. One more thing Henry kept using because he didn’t need to re-invent the wheel?

Re: Manifold/Carb ID on a 54 FACEBOOK PHOTO
K, thanks for the part number. Let me find an old post that identified it. No numbers here for the early dual quad though.

Re: Manifold/Carb ID on a 54 FACEBOOK PHOTO
I really can’t tell what I’m looking at on the manifold. It’s not engine color, but doesn’t really look like aluminum either. So maybe the oem cast iron painted silver?
To the best of my...

Re: 54 Mercury-box on firewall ID
Big wire to the relay to actuate the pull in coil on the solenoid. Then it switches over to a holding coil internally and the load goes down. I dont have a manual where I’m at, but I thought they...
