Thanks for the replies. I finally figured this out late today with help from a guy that knows these 3 speed trannys. The Forks where in the wrong position.

yes the brace is attached to the frame. I looked at trying to move that up, to move up the fender up a little but could not move it up with out getting every thing out of whack.

I have a 37 pickup and my doors were on for a Loooong time. I got the pin remover tool from Drake (about $25.00) and that worked great. No heat, just oiled them for a week before I tried.
