Re: Lift points - Model A
I for sure would NOT want to be under that where you have in your third picture, way too far forward on the lift and completely unsafe. As others have said use close to rear motor mounts for front...

Re: Engine number
The postal service did brand some items, tires later spark plugs, etc. but my unrestored 31 postal truck has nothing branded. Depends on the local POD garages at the time. You likely have a rebuilt...

Re: Sound deadening in a roadster door
For sure there was sound deadening in some doors, guarters and trunk rumble lids. I like the 6x50 rolls of window sealer from Home Depot or such. It’s rubber, self stick only about 1/8” thick cuts...

Re: Cracked Block Options
By the looks of it this one has none of the ‘upgrades’ you referenced. Would have been better taken care of. If you only have a cup of oil in 3 days you need to drop the oil pan and clean out the...

Re: Cam / distributor gear back lash?
Before you start and run, be wise and drop your oil pan and clean the sludge, along with open valve galley and clean as well. Many a still decent engine is ruined in the first 5 minutes of running...

Re: Mail truck question
Decommissioned in 1954, and the only portion Ford played was supplying the body by others chassis, body builders supplied the bodies and the POD garages married the two. Some electrical differences...

Re: Mail truck question
When were these trucks taken out of service? 1950s?[/B]
The POD decommissioned them in 54, most postal authorities speculate each one had roughly 1 million miles of road usage....

Re: Everyone's Favorite Game: Name That Noise
Chasing potentially harmful noises isn’t really fun. Try using a section of broom handle, long screw driver or pry bar, or my favorite a mechanics stethoscope from harbor freight to help isolate area...

Re: Mail truck question
Not true, Original running chassis supplied by ford were supplied with champion 3x just like every A and AA. The Firestone POD plugs were installed by the post office garages as replacement plugs...
