Re: Did I Goof.....?

Re: Head Gasket Seeping Above Serial Number

Mine started seeping there when I started to actually drive mine. It sat for quite a while before I got my hands on it. The seepage started to spread outwards from that point until I noticed after a...

Re: Watching YouTube videos pertaining to Model-A repair or restoration...

The guy apparently runs a body shop and builds hot rods (according to his profile).

This is exactly the reason I do all my own work on all my cars. The techs at the dealer are just part snappers...

Re: Too much gear lube

Oil can flow down the torque tube from the trans to the rear end. Definitely keep an eye on it cause like others are saying, it can leak out and coat your rear brakes

Re: White walls

I think they look good either way. I had whitewalls on mine when I bought it, but they were OLD tires. Nearly 100% tread but completely dry-rotted. I wanted another set of whitewalls but after seeing...

Re: I give up

Run the engine as low as you can where it runs smooth, take a can of starter fluid and give a quick spray where the intake meets the engine. If the RPMs change you've found your culprit.

Re: Different length rear axle shaft threads on either side?

Thankfully, they were in place on both sides. They seemed to be in fine shape, but I've got new ones on the way anyways along with all the proper hardware and Les Andrew's Red Book.

Re: Different length rear axle shaft threads on either side?

In the first picture or the second picture?

I measured the drum thickness on the front/rear passenger side when I went through them when I got the car last year due to having 0 braking power. All...

Re: Different length rear axle shaft threads on either side?

After doing some research, nothing about the way these were installed was right. Should be Hub then Fiber Washer then Steel Washer then Castle Nut. I had previously pulled off both the front and rear...

Re: Different length rear axle shaft threads on either side?

The drum does not rub on the backing plate (surprisingly). After I took those pictures I went out and got a couple 5/8 washers and put them on the shaft. The cotter pin now goes through the castle...

Different length rear axle shaft threads on either side?

I was driving the car today when some nice gentleman in a Jeep informed me my rear driver's side wheel was wobbling. I got home and sure enough, with the rear jacked up it had about 1/4" of in and...

Re: Gas Station

I rest the gas nozzle in the neck as high as it can sit and set the gas nozzle at the lowest notch. Flame arrestor screen taken out too. Pump always clicks off right about at the full mark on the gas...

Re: Leak on top of carb...

I see where it looks like its coming from the throttle shaft. It looks like its wet up above the throttle shaft, or is that just a shadow?

The only thing I could think would be fuel flowing out of...

Re: sign of the times

I have a DSG in my other car. Anyone could get into a car with a DCT, put it in drive, and go. There's not much difference in operation, you might notice it's a little jerky until you get used to it....

Re: sign of the times

Unless the guy is missing a leg, there's no excuse. Anyone can learn to drive stick in an afternoon, it's not rocket science. I would think one of the qualifications of being a professional car mover...

Re: Removing stuck distributor and lower shaft

It soaked all night before I made this post in PB blaster. I used a propane torch to heat it up and more PB blaster and ever so gently used a pry bar on either end of the distributor. I repeated that...

Re: Electronic vs. mechanical 6 volt turn signal flasher

CP = candle power

It's an archaic form of measuring light intensity. We don't use it here in the states anymore either, we use lumens now. We also don't call them globes, we call them bulbs.

Re: Electronic vs. mechanical 6 volt turn signal flasher

Send them back. My old "Chinesium" flasher relay I bought off Amazon a year ago is still kicking. None of the vendors seem to give any kind of info on the flashers they have, they should provide a...

Re: Electronic vs. mechanical 6 volt turn signal flasher

What flasher unit were you using? Were the bulbs you had in there LED or incandescent?

Re: Tight crank gear

Contact whoever you bought it from and get them to replace it for you

Alternatively, take it down to your local shop and have them bore it to the size you're looking for
