Genuine Autolite Heater Door

I thought this might get better exposure as a separate thread:

Here are are few pictures of a genuine Autolite heater door. It fits into the back of the heater cover perfectly and has two doors. The outer door is manual operated and can be set at any angle. The inner damper door is spring loaded and is operated remotely using a choke style cable. I picked is up at Rhinebeck two years ago and will be installing it this spring to keep my "better half" warm on those cool morning rides.

Thank you for posting that. Now I can see that the cover says Autolite on it. ;-)

I can now see one reason why they aren't that common. That configuration would transfer vibrations and noise right to the firewall. It sure has a clean look however.

Certainly not to be used with Float-O-Motor mounts.

Are you sure there is not a flexible connection of some sort to isolate the vibrations from the firewall?

My coupe arrived with an Autolite heater, except I didn't get that nice door.

Here's a picture showing the proximity to firewall...looks like maybe 2 -3 inches, no room for a hose really...

No, no, you guys have it all wrong. That design is brilliant! It keeps the rear of the manifold from drooping from the heat and muffler weight!:D

In all seriousness Al, that is a great find and I kept every pic you posted as reference.
