1930/31 Frame Oddity
 

Put my model a truck cab on frame. Cab was from a 1930/31 AA. All the mounting holes on the frame lined up perfectly but one. The bracket on frame under the cowl only hits one hole. The bracket looks to need to be moved forward a couple inches and will fit? The bracket looks to be factory riveted and fit fine on AA chassis. Was there variation in 30/31 frames? I thought they were all the same, coupe, sedan, roadster, truck..... I can easily relocate the bracket, but it's a matter of curiosity. I'm baffled..... Any help here? Thanks!!!

I think thats the way they are my 30-31 pickup is the same ,

Do a search as this has been discussed before. I believe it was to accomodate the new slant window body. One bolt should be enough. I wouldn't go moving brkts. JMO

Bingo!!!! Thanks!!!! Still not sure why they moved it, but here is the statement from the article. I have then an Pre Sept 18 body on a later frame. Now I can sleep at night!!!! But why the move? Hmmmmmm....

On September 18, 1930, Release Number 17050 Supplement #18 saw the Body Bracket on Frame – Front move to the rear 2-3/8 inches (Fig. 18)

In late 1930 the bracket was moved to accomodate the Victoria (and later the slant 4 door, 68c, and 400A cowls), which made it not line up with all the other cars,

heres what the difference is
forward is to the right
the top frame is the A400 frame

One bolt is enough. That is what my 1929 ccpu has. and it is good. One lines up and one dont.

When I got the 1930 deluxe roadster it only had one bolt for the whole body!

Your lucky it was a Deluxe John !!!

If it had been a Standard there might not have been any!!!
