Ford Y Block Duraspark Ignition Conversion y blockers
i'm doing it the simplest way. converting my O ring y block distributor by putting Duraspark parts in my housing. if somebody wants to put a Duraspark distributor in a Y block that's the other way. have a nice day! |

here's a link that covers the conversion pretty good. http://home.earthlink.net/~rcfaulcon...aspark/eec.htm there's tons of info on it in all the Ford type forums. here are pic's of cap & cap adapter. have a nice day! |
Re: Ford Y Block Duraspark Ignition Conversion That's a good link, looks like a bit more work than the pertronix. Have to look at my junk, I might have this stuff laying around. Mark

Re: Ford Y Block Duraspark Ignition Conversion frankenstein/mark
the question mark is whether the Windsor distributor is identical in all ways except the gear size. one thing to check is the oil pump intermediate shaft to see if it's 1/4" hex. then next would be length of shaft. basically if it's the same from o ring mounting point in block down to shaft. ok, back to swapping Duraspark internals into a y block distributor case housing. i think the breaker plate is the 'make or break' item. they have to be interchangeable. have a good one! |

here's another link that confirms you can swap internals. http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/10...duraspark.html i myself would use a new control box to avoid problems. NAPA has one with a blue 'protector' on back for @$30. i found Duraspark parts by adding phony vehicle. 1978 Ford F100 w/400 engine. have a nice day! |
