Stuck king pin retaining bolt

One of the retaining bolts on my king pins is broken off flush with the backside of the axle, and I haven't been able to get it out wit5h a hammer & punch while in the car.

I'm thinking of using an air hammer, any reason not to? I know I can't heat the axle. Is the bolt case hardened or anything that it can't be drilled out? I don't know if its original or repro.
Thanks!
Bob

Have you tried taking the weight off that wheel first?

I wouldn't try to drill it; you're likely to run into the king pin. I would try a heavy hammer and a punch close to the diameter of the bolt. It should drive out toward the front, if it was installed correctly. If you drill, drill along the outside edge of the pin, using a small drill to just relieve the pressure, then try driving it out with a punch.
