Windshield Glare from back window

What do you do about the windshield glare from back window?
I am thinking about putting dark window tint on the back window of my daily driver "A".

Not all A's had a rear curtain...

I've seen people use a retractable mesh type shade that allows you to see through but helps reduce the glare.

If your vehicle did not come with a back window shade, maybe a stick-on mesh shade like this would help with the glare:

The one they sell for the rear window is too big, but maybe the one they sell for side windows would be good for an A.

Tinting the back glass will make it 2 or 3 times Worse.

It seems at night, under any perceptible light, your front & rear windows become mirrors lookin at each other. With a rearview mirror and your head amidst this box of mirrors...all mirrin' each-other...you can feel like a deer in the headlights.
Add the reflective qualities of tint film and you have a visual skating rink!

I tinted the backglass of an import truck years ago & with the dashlights and stereo reflection thrown in it was crazy. The medium dark tint also reduced normal visibility out the back to nearly zero after dusk and made lane changing a 2 person job.

I wonder if a handy person could build a day/night mirror into the Model A bracket by cutting up a modern car "dimming" mirror and using the parts?
These operate on the principal of a wedge shaped mirror in behind a glass. The wedge is silvered on the backside and tilts when you flip the mirror up, the mirrored surface is pointed toward the ceiling and the front glass is vertical, dimly reflecting cars behind.

Two magnets and a piece of cloth would make a quick fix curtain. Maybe some of that see through curtain material would stop the glare but allow you to see behind.

I have the same problem with my '28 Coupe at night.

I picked-up a cheapy pair of perforated roll-up shades from Wal-Mart that attached with suction cups or hooks ( I snapped them into the top of the garnish moulding ).

Doesn't look period, but it does cut-down on some of the glare.

Someday I will put a proper cloth shade in.

Opening the windshield a bit also helps.

Good luck,

SC Frank
