Drive shaft and tork tube

I have several drive shafts and outer tubes that I saved years ago as rebuilders wanted them to make the over drive version for the Model As. Do places still want these?? Scrap prices are up, social security checks are down. would rather save them if people could use them.

People can use them you just have to find those people. And if they say no beat them with the drive shafts until they say yes

Sell the tubes on the HAMB. Torque tubes are popular material for exhaust headers. I used them on a few of my builds and seems like a "Damn, I tossed those but now have to have it" part. Also discarded rear wishbone ends for shock mnts brings a buck or two.

How are the drive shafts?

I have a pile of scrap or less desirable shafts.

You need to look at the taper end. Is it nice, not scored, how is the key way and threads?

Then look at the other end. How are the splines, bearing area and seal area.

I have a couple the spline ends are loose, one with pitting on the bearing and 2 more with marginal tapers. The one that was good at both ends is in my car.

Clearly good ones need to be saved cause you never know when you will need one. Odds are that more than one is marginal or bad.

Mitchell Makes their Own drive shafts. (two piece) the length depends on the car.
When you purchase a Mitchell , Every thing is NEW except your pinion gear!

The guys that make the F150 4-speed overdrive conversions consume a drive shaft, torque tube, and a pair of rear radius rods for each kit they build.

Re: Drive shaft and tork tube

I need one with the bearing, splines and seal surface in good shape. Too many are bad in this area. I am not interested in the taper end as that will be cut off for a quickchage. PM me if you have one.
