This looks to be an anti-theft device that is screwed together (likely with a 5 point or 7 point allen socket), allowing the ball to freely rotate making it difficult for a thief to remove the ball. |

Re: Caption This … Could a person remove the nut from a ball if the coupler had a padlock on it for theft prevension? Then he'd just drop the threaded shank into his receiver, reinstal the nut and drive off? Perhaps a rotating ball prevents this. Oh, and what size IS that ball? A 3 5/16" ?? looks huge!
