Having just fixed up the vacum wiper motor on my 34, i,m trying to fit the wiper arm to the shaft and can't work it out. man, its one fiddly little contraption.
is anyone is familiar with how you attach it to the wiper shaft.
Thanks Lawrie

Re: 34 wiper arm

Place the small end of that teardrop shaped piece over the arm of the wiper at bottom of the spring. place the hook at top of arm through the hole in wiper motor shaft.
push up the teardrop, compressing the spring and hook the top of it over the shaft, that little crescent dodad in top of the teardrop, locates in the groove of the wiper shaft.
really, they are a crap design!!!

Re: 34 wiper arm

The whole assembly WILL fly off at speed!
I keep my wiper blade in the glove box and a small piece of rubber hose or similar over the end of the arm. No danger of scratching the paint if the motor is engaged. Rain-X of course, but sometimes it is a necessary item to have at the ready.

Now I'm going to go out to the garage and take mine off and put it in the glove box for safe keeping, thanks for the advanced notice!

Is it just the blade that will go flying off or the whole arm? The arm is on there pretty good with all that spring tension and was a bit of a struggle to remove.

Re: 34 wiper arm

The first time it happened to me, the whole shebang was gone. Just the stud that goes through the roof was left
I think the wiper blade becomes a sail and it is barely attached on a good day anyway.
