Chevy cyl numbering Odd question to ask on the Ford Barn forum, but here goes. I had some machining done on my 8NV8 tractor engine. The shop took the valves out in the process. The owner thinks their employee did not understand the flathead numbering system and numbered the valves (nicely packaged up) and numbered like a small block Chev. So what is that numbering system?
I will install a few according to that and check clearances, then put the rest in and check again. |

Re: Chevy cyl numbering Flathead Right bank front to rear 1 2 3 4
Chev Right bank front to rear 2 4 6 8 Flathead Left bank front to rear 5 6 7 8 Chev Left bank front to rear 1 3 5 7 This should help you get the valves back into their original spots, renumber the bags. 18436572 is the Chev firing order Also, as far as I know a Flathead is the only V8 that #1 is not on the bank that is farthest forward. Don't know why my post the numbers don't line up. |
