40 Ford I-Beam Front Axle Safe to jack car up at axle midpoint from a strength standpoint to install jack stands ?? Thanks. Kenny C.

Re: 40 Ford I-Beam Front Axle Depends on the size of your jack and you getting it exactly in the center of the axle.

Re: 40 Ford I-Beam Front Axle I use a floor jack at this point all the time. The front axle is plenty strong.

Where you need to be careful with these I-beam axles and their strength is concerned is when you go to tie-down a vehicle on a trailer, or to tow one or pull it out of a ditch with a rope or chain. When you TIE-on to a front axle, do it at a point adjacent to the perch pin, as that way you're pulling on the well-stabilized wishbone. Coop https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...5&d=1587637527 |

Re: 40 Ford I-Beam Front Axle On my 40 I only use the center of the front axle when I need to lift the front end only an inch or 2 off the ground. Too much chance of teetering and car falling if jacked too high.
Here's a great thread that offers jacking solutions. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...ight=jack+pads I did not drill any new holes in the frame. Pads are bolted using stock holes. |
