Do you buy stripped out cores?

Re: '35-'36 Crank out Windshield Regulators

We really use only the housing to rebuild units but do give a core credit ($35)
towards the purchase of a completely rebuilt unit
And will consider purchasing complete stripped-out cores for $15

This Ole' Coupe, I had the same question on buying cores, plus do you sell individual components such as the arms with integral gears and the main shaft with worm gear?

Hey John,
yes, we do sell individual parts, however, the buyer needs to be aware of the issue of the rivets that are removed to install new parts. These rivets have a step-down diameter on them to accommodate the various IDs of the angel wing gears, extension arms, and swivel window mounting bracket.
We replace the rivets with custom machined button pins and e-clips.

Terri, thank you for following up with a great answer. I can call or email you on this when I get ready to make a repair on one of my 35's. On the other hand, i don't live that far from your location in Lancaster, Pa, so I'm wondering if I could stop by sometime, and chat with you in person??

John, it's my pleasure to answer questions and you're absolutely welcome to stop by and chat with my husband, Kit, he'd love to show you his totally disorganized shop in the basement. He loves what he does, just not an organizer for sure lol

Re: '35-'36 Crank out Windshield Regulators

I just had my '35 windshield regulator disassembled, inspected and cleaned by This Ole' Coupe. The rivets were drilled out and replaced with removable pins so it can be disassembled at any time in the future. The gear teeth on the pivot arms were worn so newly machined arms were installed. I plan to take it all apart at some point and have the arms, pins, and body parts silver cadmium plated.

The service was amazing. I mailed it from my home in Virginia on a Tuesday and had it all done and back in my hands the following Monday (thanks in part to the USPS).

One comment is that the pins create a looser joint than the riveted connection but that's a small price to pay and shouldn't affect its operation.

Re: '35-'36 Crank out Windshield Regulators

Before disassembly center drill the 2 pivot rivets and tap them 8-24 then drill the rolled end off to disassemble. Reuse the rivets with 8-24 button head cap screws.
