Door alignment
 

As a new member of the A community, I am learning so much from this forum and the Model A club I joined. I have researched door alignment and am confused as to what I should do to correct my problem. The female dovetail bumper on both of my doors does not strike the male dovetail correctly. It strikes about a quarter inch too low. It seems that I need to raise the end of the door. How do I do this. Thanks

first of all, what body style are you working on? does the front edge of the door line up with the cowl? if not, it could be in the hinges if they do you can tip the cowl by removing the front body bolts and adding a shim under the rear of the cowl. reinstall the bolts. it doesn`t take much.

The Modelaclub.com USED to have this information readily available in a Tips section on their site, but for some asinine reasoning, it's now behind a $30.00 pay wall very recently. You cant get to the tips section without feeding the greed.

Thanks for this info. I first want to inspect hinges for problem. In the instructions it said to check this hinge gap.

Straighten door hinges. Door hinges are often bent. Straighten and adjust to obtain an even gap at each hinge pillar measuring 1/16′′ to 3/32′′. No other course of action will resolve this problem.

How and where exactly is this gap measured. Thanks

The gap is between the front of the door to the cowl / windshield pillar.

I have found less bent hinges vs worn top hinge pins. The holes are worn out letting the rear of the door sag. They make oversized pins to correct this. You might want to take the rear of the door with it slightly open and raise the latch end up and down. How much movement is there?
