Modification Needed to Install Melling 19 Pump in 1936 LB I bought the late short body 80 lb. pump for the 1936 LB motor that I just rebuilt. I also bought the pickup pickup but the baffle in the pan hits the pickup. I know I could modify the baffle but wonder what anyone else would recommend. Thanks for any help. It has been a few years but I recall no such issue on a 59A that I used this pump and pickup in. Could I just use an oilpan from a 59A.

Re: Modification Needed to Install Melling 19 Pump in 1936 LB Chuck, modify the baffle keeping as much of it intact as possible.

Re: Modification Needed to Install Melling 19 Pump in 1936 LB Chuck, if I can offer a bit of advice: I made a plate that locates the oil pump relative to the oil pan so it sits as it would if it were mounted in the block.
It was a great help when I was replacing a missing baffle and I would imagine it would be helpful in your situation. I showed it in one of my videos. If I can find it I will add a link here. Mart. Found it: https://youtu.be/KD5wzatjYKg |
Re: Modification Needed to Install Melling 19 Pump in 1936 LB Remove the baffle and forget it. I have done that on two engines and no problems,
