I purchased the book and after reading it was disappointed. I thought the text would provide a detailed history on the development of the 1940 Ford rather than a history of the Company. The book is very well written however, it is more of a "mini history" of the Ford Motor Company, the development of the V-8 engine and information regarding each model year from 1932 through 1941.
There are about 19 of the 150+ pages devoted to the 1940 Ford line but most of these are Ford archives pictures. The book also touches on the V-8's role as a bootlegger's favorite vehicle, on Ray Park's and the infancy of NASCAR.

For a person who is interested in the Ford Motor Company in the 1930" under the ledership of Henry Ford and his staff, I would recommend the book.

I agree with c-gor as I also bought the book. It is a well done book(actually anyone who takes on a book project is taking on a huge task), but it is shy on actual 40 Ford information. It's a great book for the young or novice Fordophile as it gives some great Ford history of the 30's and 40's. For those of us looking strictly for a lot of 40 facts and figures it is not a book that "fills the bill for us".

I agree it is not what I would have liked it to be, but for $25 it is worth having, in my opinion. A lot of pictures we have seen before. But it is about 40's, and I have been buying anything I could afford about 40's for almost 50 years. I started when I was one year old you know.

Just received my copy today, agree it is a bit light on the real meat of the 40 Ford but it is a good book, placing the 40 in context. Quite a few photos I had not seen, looking forward to reading it. Makes me wish I had my old 40 tudor back......
