Loose Front Wheel Bearings The driver's side on my '26 is fine. No wiggle or looseness at all. The passenger side is another story. I took it apart yesterday as I could pull the whole assembly out and push it back on the spindle about 1/8". The spindle nut was as tight as you could possibly get it. The outer bearing came apart when I took it out. How could the assembly be so loose yet the nut so tightened up?

Re: Loose Front Wheel Bearings I vote for worn out bearings and/or bearing races.

Re: Loose Front Wheel Bearings You answered you own question. Replace both bearings and races and check the spindle and make sure the washer has the tang in place. JMO

Re: Loose Front Wheel Bearings Not sure from your description, but I have sometimes had problems with the bearing cups being loose in the hub. If this is what is happening to you and new cups don't solve the problem, the proper solution is to find a better hub or buy a new one. Peening the inside of the hub, using shim stock or JB Weld may provide a temporary fix.

I was just out in the garage trying to get the inner race out. It's certainly not loose! :( There is a small inward dent that I think might be hampering my efforts to drive it out? Maybe have to resort to cutting it out. :( |
Re: Loose Front Wheel Bearings If you have a welder, a quick bead of weld on the inner face of the cup in a couple of places, and the cup will probably fall out when it cools.
