Sending unit removal 36 coupe

Climbing in my rumble and closing the lid to access the sending unit in my coupe Is a lot of fun! Not.
Can the sender be removed in the car?

The rumble seat can easily be removed. Lift the front edge and pull forward to clear the seat back, then lift out.

Yes, as you open the lid, when the lid is almost vertical, there will be a gap between the lid and the rear of the body. You can access the sending unit by sliding a not too fat arm and hand down in the gap. Not easy but I have done it several times. Bring your patience!

That works, but you need to hold the lid steady with one hand if you really want to keep the other.

The point I was really trying to make was can the sending unit be removed and replaced through the access hole?

If your fuel gauge is playing up then you should do some testing to make sure the gauge and wiring is OK before going to the trouble of removing the tank sender. Just guessing is not the way to go. Regards, Kevin.
