1934 coupe - how do you attach hinges to repro trunk? 1 Attachment(s)
No holes are drilled, but what goes in the whole once drilled?
Rivet nuts? Caged nuts? Drilled and tapped plate? What did Henry use? Thanks, Rich |

Not the best photo, but should give you the info on how the originals were mounted. I would use a nut plate (the kind that are somewhat of a pop-rivet). You could check with Kerl Wescott, I would guess that he deals with this frequently.

This type of setup was what I was thinking. Note: Not endorsing this brand, don't know anything about it, just found the photo online.

Re: 1934 coupe - how do you attach hinges to repro trunk? Originally the deck lid inner panel had "D" nuts riveted on.
If the outer panel is not on the lid then simply screw the hinges to the inner panel with nuts inside. Get everything fit including the outer panel and the latch, then weld the nuts in place. If the outer panel is on you can use a "nutsert" type clinch nut similar to what JSeery recommended. Or you can make nut plate for each pair of holes and fish them into place and hold with epoxy or spot weld. |
