Spark plug gap

Sorry if this has been discussed, I ran a search and didn't find anything. The "Ford Model 'A' Instruction Book" states the plugs should be gapped to .027 and Les Andrews says .035. I have found a few mentions in other threads of making sure their plugs were gapped to .035. My question is, why the discrepancy and which is correct?

Re: Spark plug gap

60 years of Model A’s, gap of .035 never used anything different.

This has been talked about many, many times.

Enjoy.

I agree !! I think that early in 28 the spark plug gap was was .027 . Henry later decided that a wider gap was better . Les is correct .

Re: Spark plug gap

A sparkler should spark at either setting or anything in between.

The less gap, less chance of high speed misfire
More gap, idle/ low speed will be better

Guten Morgen,

modern spark plugs with for example Iridium electrodes tolerate a significantly larger contact distance.

(I drive the NGK 5 EiX with 0.35 ".)
