Door Latch Rods 30 Coupe

The end of the rods are worn and no longer fit snug in the recess (2 flat sides and 2 rounded sides) of the interior door handle. Because of this the handle will not stay tight. For the very small amount of material that needs to be added, welding and filing down seems extreme. I thought about applying a thin layer of Marine Tex epoxy to build it up and then sand down to fit. Another option is repro rods but they may be worse than the worn originals I have.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Marine Tex is out of business, I worked with the men who started the company. I main man was my supervisor and he should me tricks in using it. Today I would take those rods to my son and have him tig weld them then grind and file. This would last anther 90 years where the Marin Tex many crack and break off in 30 years.

My local Ace Hardware has Marine Tex and also on Amazon. I'm 67 and if it only lasts 30 years that's not a problem. :) Heck if it only lasts 20 years still not a problem:)

Well that's good news that Marine Tex is available, Dale must have sold out, I haven't seen Dale in over 2 years I think he was clean out his tool box getting ready to retire.
