Pulling the instrument cluster . . .

I'm getting ready to pull the instrument cluster from the dash but I noticed there was fluid behind the gas gauge. I was told I need to remove the whole cluster in order to reconnect the speedometer cable. What should I expect when the cluster comes out? Thanks in advance.

The gas you see will stay put until the gauge is needed to be removed, the cluster is not attached to the gauge.,

The fluid behind the glass is what you guys call gas. When you remove the dash panel, that stays behind so it will not be an issue. Have a close look at the dash panel around the gauge and you'll see where it is not part of the fuel gauge.

Disconnect the battery first!

While you have the cluster out check the condition of ignition switch and ammeter wires. Put some graphite lube in the speedo cable and button it all back up. Enjoy the adventure... Chap

Since finishing my truck, THAT is the task I hate the most.
