brake drums early ford 1 Attachment(s)
Hi All,
Restoring a one-off built on a 1950's Kurtis chassis which came with Ford running gear. Need to find replacement front drums but can't identify. 12" dia, 2" shoe, 4.5" bolt centres, 3.25" hub, 3.75" offset. Goes on and early ford kingpin style spindle. Here's what it looks like. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Paul. |
Re: brake drums early ford Looks like a 40 ford with the hub on the Inside thats had the bolt circle redrilled
|
Re: brake drums early ford Hi Skid,
The outer holes are for rivets. The drum was riveted to the hub - don't know why that would be necessary but that's what's there. |
Re: brake drums early ford plain ol ford drum. these guys make the best new ones http://www.bolingbrothers.com/brands...-Products.html

Here's the hub. Starting to look like maybe the hub was originally 5.5" bolt centres that was changed to 4.5" centres for some reason?

Re: brake drums early ford Yep, must have wanted to fit a 4.5 inch rim size.

I'll bet they weren't rivets they just cut the original swaged studs flush with the drum and redrilled for the smaller circle. Bob |
Re: brake drums early ford You got it Bob. Thank you everyone for the help. Paul.
