Glass bowl gaskets....

I just drained my fuel for a 3 month storage by running it dry.
Noticed a little sediment in the bottom of the glass bowl as I removed it.
Turns out the 'dirt' was from the deteriorating neoprene gasket.
My A runs fine with no fuel problems.

What would be the better replacement:
1. Cork gasket

2. Neoprene gasket

3. Micro paper filter kit 2pk with filter and gasket attached.

Damn - I had a course cork gasket sheet -cut out a donut and installed Leaked like a sieve as the cork was far to porous ... lesson learned - buy a proper gasket and it
will work like magic

Glass bowl gaskets was one of the main reasons that I changed to the cast iron sediment bulb filter . It works good and its purty too !

I agree with Purdy, glass bowl gaskets are a PITA, having said that I know that many owners swear by them and not at them....go figure.

Thanks.

I still have my original cast-iron bowl and may re-install it.

I've had my A since 1963 and it had no problems when I replaced it with the glass bowl 3 years ago.

Re: Glass bowl gaskets....

I feel that some prefer the glass bowl filter because they can see the trash as it builds up in the glass bowl . I really don't need to see the sediment , I just know that after a while that it will be there . The cast sediment bowl is easy to take apart and clean . The lead gasket will last for years. I have found that the cork or neoprene gasket used with the glass bowl must be replaced anytime that the glass bowl is removed or it will leak . I had one of my model A's to catch on fire , back in 1962 because of a leaking bowl gasket . I also prefer the quaint look of the cast iron sediment bowl .
