torque for u shaped rear hanger spring bolts

I could not find anything in the red book.

What would you torque the two rear u shaped hanger spring bolts to. Or would you just tighten them up?

Tighten them but do not install cotter keys yet. Use a 1/2 inch drive socket and a braker bar and put some heft into it.

To insure everything is well seated in, run the car around for a few miles, and re-tighten. repeat three or four times and then install the cotter keys.

That is what I would do.

old31,

The spring shop that would re-arch springs suggested after 200 miles to re-torque the spring clamps.

Just went thru the same exercise with a new front spring. Removed the clamps and lower plate, tightened the center bolt and reinstalled the lower plate and re-torqued.

One less on the winter 'to do' list. Winter will end, right ??
