32 B steady rod holder question

Looks in the book like this assembly is black, while the top of the bellhousing is the engine color? Also, are these the correct bolt set up? Does anyone make the counter sunk bolt? I only have one.

I would check with Roy Nacewicz Parts, (734) 654-9450, fordbolts.com. If no luck get a allen headed one from a good hardware store and replace it later (I did this for my roadster back in the seventies). If you don't use the countersunk head on the drivers side the brake pedal might hang up on it.

Jim,

The bracket should be painted black and the bell housing engine green. Let me know if Roy doesn't have the right countersunk bolt as I may have an extra. The set up in your photo is as original for that version of the bracket (there were three different versions).

I will call Roy Monday. I have an order sitting with him, hopefully this can be added.

Just to provide info.. Roy does not carry them. I need to check one more box to see if I have another one. Also, I have second bellhousing with a broken piece where one of the pins is. Can this be used with the broken piece? Or should it be junked?

Still looking for an answer for question above.

There is enough of those flywheel housings around that I think I would save that one for a display motor. If you need to junk it bring it to Hershey next time you pass through and I will take it off your hands.

Deal.

Evidently there wasn't enough 'beef' in that area of the bell housing casting as I checked the two that I have that aren't already in use and one is broken just like yours. Nice anchor for a big model boat.

Being an old machinist I would square it off and add a piece of steel with a threaded hole in it and use it . JMHO

I know this thread is a few years old thread but I found it researching this same problem.

Did you ever find a source for the special countersunk bolt? I’ve looked at 3rd Gen Bolts and nothing is listed as specific to the 32B

What size thread is It? I have several sizes of flat head slot cap screws in stock BUT they are ALL course thread. IF it's a fine thread then so can't help!

They are 1/2 x 13 with 3/4 Head.

They are N/C threads consistent with the Ford practice of using course-threaded fasteners into cast iron.

Try McMaster-Carr. They have them in Hex Socket head style.
