Rear spring center bolt

I noticed my new tie bolt has a considerably thicker head than the original bolt I pulled from the spring pack. Should I file down the top of the head to be the same thickness as the original? Seems like if I used it as is it would hit against the bottom of the trunk floor before the spring fully seats in the crossmember.

So we know where we are at, approximately how thick is the head of the new bolt? It has been a while but I thought there was enough room for a slightly thicker head. How about a picture?

I ended up finding a new bolt I had on hand for a 26-27 Model T rear spring. This one matches better to the original one.

That looks like the way to go.

That's what I also thought.
