E brake.

I have a 29 frame that is missing the holes in the frame for the ebrake rod crossmember that connects the rods to the rear brakes. Can any one tell me what I have?

Have a picture of the frame ? Early 28 frame ?

The frame number is A155xxxx

I'm new to this site so I need to figure out how to add a pic.

May 1929. You are correct. Have you been to plucks site for frame changes ? Try "Go advanced" for picture loading.

The hole with the blue pen is where the big rod sticks out both sides of the frame.

This is a 31 frame. That's the rod that needs to go where the blue pen is in the other picture of the 28 frame

This is a 29 frame....three holes. Two bolts hold a cup on the inside of the frame that the brake cross shaft rotates in...center hole for a grease fitting...you can see the brake actuating arms go around the frame bottom

Re: E brake.

That's some good information. Thanks 1955cj5. I need to find the mechanism for the 29 e brake or can I use the 31 mechanism parts if I drill out the middle hole in the frame?

Might be like the early frames yet, see cross shaft leaning on pole behind frame ? bolts on inside of frame with three holes, 2 for bolts and center for zerk.

Re: E brake.

I don't know about that....I would look for the original style parts...you might have fit issues down the road with the 31 cross shaft....but that is just a guess...

Call Bert's in Denver for the right parts. 800-321-1931

I like the 28-9 style much better, because it's easier to service.
