Model B 4 cyl water pump? I see Mac's discontinued the water pump I was waiting to order. Anyone have one or a rebuild kit or a good used one? I really just need the impeller as the fins are rotted off mine, but would take about anything.

Re: Model B 4 cyl water pump? Try posting in the "Swap Meet" section.

Re: Model B 4 cyl water pump? Try Renner's Corner. They are the "go to" guys for Model B parts. rennerscorner.com, (734) 428-8424
PS, I am glad you put this in the swap meet section as fourfords suggested Charlie Stephens |
Re: Model B 4 cyl water pump? Thanks Charlie, they have the rebuild kits but looks like they dont include an impeller. They also offer rebuilt units for $500. I'll keep looking or give them a call to see if they have any impellers they would sell.

Re: Model B 4 cyl water pump? Macs have just discontinued their new reproduction model B water pumps. I bought one a few months ago and the front taper on the shaft was a little off on its angle and after an hour or so running the front pulley came loose and would not retighten. Contacted Macs and they eventually refunded my money. Had to send them photos of the pump shaft to prove their pump was poor quality. All a big waste of time especially the removal of the Headlight condutes, grille and radiator twice so as to unmount and remove the pump. Macs service and quality has slipped of recent times and I doubt that I will buy from them any more after having fairly good service from them over many years. I think Dave Renner is you best quality option but of course fairly pricey. He can supply all the pump parts you need even though they are not all listed, try him, great to deal with. Regards, Kevin.

Re: Model B 4 cyl water pump? I may have what you need. Will look tomorrow if you email me at [email protected]. Do you need a 1932 or '33-'34?

Re: Model B 4 cyl water pump? I have heard about the fan issue. I am on my second fan and radiator due to failure. Im trying to stay original and avoid the adaptor option. At this point im either going to send mine to renners or see if anyone has one for me. Thanks everyone

tours. Cools real good and never had a problem. I'm not sure what fan I am using, I think it's a 4 blade. G.M. |
Re: Model B 4 cyl water pump? There's more to using the V8 pump than just buying the adapter. You may or may not have a better water pump, but you no longer have a fan unless you modify the V8 water pump pulley to attach a fan. That strikes me as something that would have to be done very carefully in order to avoid fan imbalance.

Curious as to how you attached a cooling fan to the V8 pump on you B engine ? Currently , there are no such adaptors made to put a fan to an early V8 pump. Kling's used to make an adaptor for such fan use to early V8 pump. He told me this year, that he hasn't made such adaptors for years now...'not enough demand' to justify making them. I have three different alum adaptors to mix/match various pumps to application, so am aware of those. Also , have good early V8 pumps that I'd like to use....but have to have that adaptor ! |
Re: Model B 4 cyl water pump? 2 Attachment(s)
I don't have any information on these pictures.

Thank you for those pictures :) ! Wonder if that is Kling's 'invention/equipment' on the front of V8 shaft ? Maybe someone has one or can identify this , over on the Model A side ? I don't know how to get these pictures over there with questions. I have the cyclone adaptor, one of three different adaptors on the shelf. Also have the other parts shown...except that fan holder ! Doesn't look complicated, eh ? Wish I knew machining, as I know that lots of inquiries for that adaptor in the past. |

Before I went to a V8 pump I think I would add some speed equipment most of which uses a Model A water pump.

Re: Model B 4 cyl water pump? Those are both '32s with two of the many casting variations encountered. There are even a few with Ford script on the casting and some aftermarket ones as well.
The outer ends of the grease fittings on the '33-'34 version are only about an inch apart. |
