Here is a good reference, http://www.fordgarage.com/pages/V8brakedrums.htm. Brian must have very good eyes. I can't tell if it is 11 inch (1931 model A) or has multiple grooves on the outside (1935).

I'm certainly not good at identifying parts. But, might also be a '35 front as seen in the second photo?

Can we get another shot showing the outer edge to see if there are rings?

Really? I have never seen any. I would think that this type of design would not
lend itself to the wide five pattern. You learn something new every day! I would think they would be quite scarce.

I was in another thread discussion about rarity of '35 drums in that the design is 1 yr. only. Guess these are even more rare?

How did a question about a '32-'34 brake drum end up being a discourse on very obviously different '35 drums and then again another leap to '36 drums?

Simple. The topic is "Lightweight Brake Drum", which is fairly generic. The O/P asked if the one pictured was "1933/34". To those of us who are not experts, it may have well been 1932/35. I also find that it interesting and germain that '36 wide fives were made with the same open design. The '35's may be "very obviously different" to you, but not to me and probably a lot of others.

The difference is pretty straight forward. The '35 has cooling fins and the '32-'34 has none as shown in the photos in #1 and #4.

With respect, what's generic about the question "1933/34 Ford?"?

Seems to me "the human wrench" was asking whether it was a '33 or '34 and the '35 came into the conversation as a result of "VeryTangled" introduced the Info sheet indicating it was a 1935 introduction. The discussion was titled "Lightweight Brake Drum" and not that it's an issue but additional Info about the cooling rings on the solid style was added info from the Info sheet. Possibly the drum shown in the original pic is neither a '33 or '34 but a later year, '35? Pretty easy to see the interest in the thread got a bit more inclusive as the discussion show additional detail.

Well, since '36 was mentioned here, this might be a good time to point-out that NORMAL '36 front drums ARE what we refer to as having the "WIDE 5" bolt pattern, and that they also have that goofy, long snout that the outer bearing rides in, as seen on the left in this pic. DD

There is another drum in the background of the original pic, which clearly only has one ring, this appears to be a match to the main subject of the pic, so as stated, they are 32-34 drums.

I had a set of those on a 35-36 rear end. Very strange. Are they early 36??

They are 36 drums, I assume the "early 36" assertion is correct. They are factory fit ford parts for at least part of the 36 model year. I'm talking about the last pic shown, not the first.
